Is Helsinki the Best in Finland?

Have you heard about Helsinki, the capital of Finland?

One of the interesting games Helsinki hosts is the Summer Olympics, You can’t afford to miss that. Also, it has some of the cleanest tap water of all big cities in the world. Most Helsinki residents speak Finnish as their native language, and some speak Swedish. Helsinki’s modern international airport is Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL). Helsinki is a real treat, if you really want to be there!

Here is a short list of places that may spice up your image of the city:

Let’s start with the Ferry Ride. You don’t want to miss the moment you get to enter the boat and enjoy the sound of still waters flowing onto the ferry. There are certain classes of people who use the ferry to load up on duty-free alcohol and perfume and party through the night. One of the best things to do when visiting Helsinki is to take a day trip. The Helsinki ferry takes just two hours, and you’ll be in another country! It can also take you to neighboring countries like Estonia. If you’re booking your trip as a day trip, make sure to book the earliest ferry departure so you can have a full day to explore!

Have you seen the Green Baltic Sea? Oh! you don’t want to miss that when you visit Helsinki. It’s the youngest sea on the planet and its one of the world’s largest brackish waters. It’s almost impossible to swim in summer, especially for people with allergies, as the sea contains a lot of heavy metals.

If you’re a book lover, don’t even try to ignore the Finnish National Library. It looks very modest from the outside but is completely different on the inside. The National Library of Finland is possibly the most majestic. It is a historical site and a perfect haven of peace, away from the busy streets of Helsinki city centre. This library is a must-visit for architecture lovers and anyone who wishes to discover Helsinki’s hidden secrets. There is no entrance fee, but before you enter, your overcoats and bags must be stored in the cloakroom lockers.

If Helsinki had a tourist center, it would be the Senate Square, because Helsinki Cathedral is the jewel of Senate Square and it dominates the surrounding buildings.

Helsinki City Museum is another site worth visiting. Since its opening, it has been one of the most popular museums in Finland. It has been designed to be a living room where anyone can come to work in pleasant surroundings, have a coffee, or just hang out. Entry into the museum is free.

Do not miss The Market Square, one of the most visited and enjoyable cosy places in Helsinki. It is a spot for freshly cooked foods, cafes, meat, fruit, fish- especially herring during its season, or even reindeer sausages. There are tables and chairs to relax and enjoy meals. But that’s only from the edible stalls. The market also offers a variety of services, souvenirs, dolls, fur, crafts, and clothing.

If the Market Square shopping isn’t enough for you, just head towards the Old Market Hall and take advantage of the abundance of goods on offer.

Oodi library is literally the most interesting attraction I found in Helsinki. This Library is a lively meeting place, right at the heart of Helsinki. You can meet up with friends, search for information, immerse yourself in a book or work. The library structure is really unique & everyone is allowed to do a lot of stuffs in this library beyond reading books alone. This library has everything down to sewing machines! It even has a balcony. You’ll also find the Helsinki Letter Sculpture in front of Oodi library.

Helsinki is more than just a place to visit—it’s an experience that will leave a lasting impression on your heart. So, pack your bags, embrace, and make your way to Helsinki!
